Ukraine International Airlines is celebrating its 15th anniversary


On 25th November 1992 Ukraine International Airlines that had been officially registered on 29th October 1992 made its first flight Kyiv-London.

In the space of 15 years of its activities UIA has grown from a small company with two aircraft and 100 personnel to being the leading Ukrainian airline operating a fleet of fifteen Boeing-737 aircraft and transporting one and a half million passengers annually.

For today UIA has carried more than 6.5 million passengers and over 40 thousand tons of post and cargo, and received revenue over of 1 billion 300 million USD. The operating profits of the Airline amount to over 25 million USD.

UIA has a highly qualified team of 1300 professional employees.

Today more than 40 representative offices of the Airline are working in Ukraine and worldwide. UIA`s operational network covers 70 countries.

UIA cooperates with airlines worldwide on the basis of 130 interline agreements. Through its partner network UIA serves over 3,000 destinations offering best same-day connections at competitive prices. Operating 300 scheduled flights per week, Ukraine International offers the largest number of direct flights from Ukraine to Western Europe and Middle East. The route network consists of international flights from Kyiv to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin, Frankfurt, Vienna, Zurich, Rome, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Helsinki, Dubai, Kuwait and Tbilisi. From Lviv we operate to Frankfurt, Vienna, Barcelona, Madrid and Naples. From Odesa we operate to Vienna. Besides that, UIA is operating domestic flights within Ukraine – to Lviv and Simferopol.

In 2007 UIA has increased total passenger traffic by almost 40%.

UIA`s fleet consists of 15 Boeing 737 aircraft: 6 Boeing 737-500s, 5 Boeing 737-400s and 4 Boeing 737-300s.

Safety is the number one priority for Ukraine International Airlines.

Our Airline’s safety standards meet the highest international requirements as confirmed when UIA became the first airline in the CIS and the 51st out of 265 IATA safety members to be certified under the IOSA programme (IATA Operational Safety Audit). In April 2007 UIA successfully completed the second IOSA Audit, verifying full conformity with the most stringent operational safety requirements.

UIA was also the first airline in Ukraine to receive JAR-145 certification, enabling us to perform full technical maintenance on western aircraft types. The Airline’s Technical Division provides full technical maintenance for its own fleet and also provides technical services for other airlines of Ukraine and CIS.

The Airline carriers cargo and post on its scheduled passenger flights and also provides freighter services on the modernised AN-12 aircraft. The UIA fleet will be further expanded in 2008, with the addition of a Boeing 737 Freighter aircraft.

Panorama Club, the UIA`s Frequent Flyer Program acting since 1995 was the first such a program in Ukraine.

Since 1993 the Panorama in-flight magazine has been published on a monthly basis. Today it is one of the leading bilingual publications in Ukraine.

In partnership with Swissport, the global leader in Ground Handling, UIA is one of the founding shareholders of “Swissport Ukraine” company that provides services to over 20 international airlines at Kyiv-Boryspil, including all the major European flag carriers.

In 2005 UIA set up a new joint venture company “Panorama Tours” in the United Kingdom. The company concentrates on selling inbound packages to Ukraine from all over the world.
