Why were you flying in Iran several hours after Iranians attacked US military bases in Iraq?
Prior to the departure of flight PS752 there were no rectrictions on flight operations to/from Iran for Ukrainain carriers.
According to the statement of Iranain authorities, the aircraft was shot down.
Safety and security are always utmost priority for Ukraine International. Airlines rely on regulations and decrees of governmental bodies that are responsible for ensuring continued safety of operations, to receive adequate and timely information in case there is an increased risk associated with operating commercial flights in specific air space that they control.
Who is responsible for ensuring the safety of airspace?
The national states (authorities) are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the airspace above their territory. In this case, the Iranian Government was responsible for ensuring the continued safety of commercial operations in the airspace.
Why did you delay PS752 departure?
We had to offload excess passenger luggage to ensure we meet the maximum take-off weight requirement. It is a standard procedure. In this specific case, the offloading resulted in the delay of the departure due to a great quantity of baggage pieces.
Is it true that passengers were booked on the flight, but did not board the aircraft?
Two passengers who had a booking for PS752 did not show up in order to board the aircraft on time. It is a frequent occurrance for airlines. UIA thus applied the standard procecure to ensure that any baggage that these passenger(s) may have checked was offloaded from the aircraft.
Does Ukraine International plan to resume flights to Iran?
After the loss of PS752, we immediately suspended operations to Tehran. UIA flights to Iran are suspended until further notice.
What about your other scheduled flights?
Ukraine International continues to operate all of its scheduled and charter flights carrying our passengers to their destinations in safety and comfort.
Do you fly over Iran?
No, Ukrainain carriers are restricted from using Iranian airspace. Since January 8, UIA does not fly over Iran and Iraq as it does not fly over the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk regions, as well as the territory of the Russian Federation (both direct and transit).
Has flight PS752 deviated from the approved flight course?
No, flight PS752 did not deviate from the course approved by Air Trafic Control.
How can you comment on the preliminary findings of the investigation?
We do not comment in any way on preliminary findings or reports. We expect a full and objective investigation of the potential causes of the accident in accordance with international standards and are thus awaiting the final report of the investigation team.
What kind of compensation will the families of passengers and crew receive?
The next of kin of flight PS752 passengers and crew have the right to compensation according to legislation applied.
