Ukraine International Airlines has just made booking airline tickets a whole lot easier and faster. From January 2008 clients will be able to book and pay for their tickets on all UIA scheduled flights and those of their partner airlines, Austrian Airlines, KLM, Air France, Alitalia and TAP Air Portugal, on-line via the airlines website at www.flyuia.com and via air travel booking offices the world over.

As the world’s airlines move towards the paperless ticket UIA has been one of the leaders in the CIS region and is now placed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in the ‘upper league’ of airlines across the world in implementing a comprehensive system of electronic ticketing.

Sergiy Fomenko, Vice President for Sales and Marketing at UIA commented: “We started to implement the e-ticketing programme in 1998 but it is only recently that global airline systems have been up to a standard whereby we are able to run our whole ticketing programme ‘online’. We hope that by the end of May this year 100% of our ticketing will be electronic. Our clients should not worry about not having the usual multipart ticket set, he said, as their online booking means that all they have to do is book online and turn up at the airport with their passport and booking reference as the system does the rest. Payment can be made using all of the major credit cards and is guaranteed. It couldn’t be easier, as the web site works in Ukrainian, Russian, English and all the main European languages”.

The e-ticketing system is designed to ensure that clients get the best possible rate for their flight and to reduce time spent purchasing tickets and moving through airports both in Ukraine and abroad. Richard Creagh, Deputy President of UIA said: “E-ticketing is the future as it saves time, reduces cost and is considerably more secure for the client as you can’t lose an e-ticket or have it stolen. Once you are in the system your booking and seat are confirmed. The next step will be online ‘check in’, which will be available within the next few months.”
