According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, entry of foreigners into Ukraine is restricted until September 28
August 27, 2020: Following a Ukrainian government directive that restricts foreign visitors to enter Ukraine, UIA is alerting all of its customers and crew about this new policy.
From August 29 through September 28, foreign visitors will be denied entrance to Ukraine. UIA will adhere to the new policy recently approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. The policy provides a temporary ban on the entry of foreigners with few exceptions.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the relevant resolution, №641, and has begun making it publicly known. These measures will have a negative impact on Ukraine’s aviation industry, which in the absence of any other state support during the worldwide CoVid pandemic and ensuing crisis, is already economically weakened and in critical condition.
"We must now decide on the airline's plans for the next month, without having enough time or information”. stated Mr. Yevhen Dykhne, CEO of the airline. He added “As we wait for the specifics of Resolution №641, UIA will make a decision on what flights to cancel, based on the information contained. We are considering several options, including a radical one that will best serve the airline, its staff and its passengers”.
For UIA, the percentage of foreign travelers is about 60%, traveling to and from Ukraine, as UIA’s route network has not yet been fully reinstated due to the CoVid pandemic. This means that this restriction will apply to all routes without exception and will affect the number of travelers aboard our flights.
Because of these resolutions, UIA is forced to revise its flight schedule and significantly reduce the overall number of flights. Starting from September 14, the following flights will be canceled:
- Kyiv - Zaporizhia (OZH) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Madrid (MAD) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Barcelona (BCN) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Athens (ATH) - Kyiv (except for two flights);
- Kyiv - Geneva (GVA) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Delhi (DEL) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Berlin (TXL) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Chisinau (KIV) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Kherson (KHE) - Kyiv (from Sept. 20).
In addition, there will also be a reduction of frequencies on the following routes:
- Kyiv - Odesa (ODS) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Paris (CDG) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Düsseldorf (DUS) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Brussels (BRU) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Dubai (DXB) - Kyiv; Kyiv - Istanbul (IST) - Kyiv;
- Kyiv - Tel Aviv (TLV) - Kyiv.
UIA's final decision on the flight schedule will be made after the publication of all necessary decisions of public authorities - the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the State Aviation Service, the State Border Guard Service, etc.
