UIA updates safety and security measures on its flights

October 8, 2020: The safety of passengers and crews has always been and remains the top priority for Ukraine International Airlines (UIA). Understanding that the world is still battling a global pandemic, UIA has updated safety and security measures to insure the safety of passengers and crew.

Effective October 12, 2020, and until further notice, UIA’s new safety measures are designed to protect passengers and crew, and make them feel more secure throughout their journey:

• It is mandatory for all passengers, six (6) years old and older, to wear protective masks during their travel and while boarding and on UIA flights.
• The only exception to this policy is if the passenger has breathing difficulties not related to COVID-19 or if the passenger has other health conditions. For these passengers, they must provide a certified letter from their doctor or medical professional PLUS a negative PCR test for COVID-19, obtained within 48 hours prior to departure of their flight. UIA urges all passengers with preexisting conditions that preclude their ability to wear masks during their flight to consider if travel is absolutely necessary before purchasing tickets.
• Respirators with an exhalation valve are forbidden due to the unidirectional release of biological material (droplets) through the exhalation valve on the respirator.

During these unprecedented times, Ukraine International Airlines places the safety and health of our passengers and crew at the highest levels. UIA applies safety standards and procedures provided by the World Health Organization, the International Air Transport Association, the European Aviation Safety Agency, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, as well as the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the State Aviation Service.
