Ukraine International operates cargo flights delivering medical supplies to Ukraine, Israel, and many European countries
Despite the embargo on commercial passenger flights, Ukraine International is operating cargo flights delivering medical supplies and humanitarian relief shipments.
Since April 13, 2020, Ukraine International has operated eleven cargo flights from China to Ukraine, Italy, Israel, Poland, France, and Germany. The carrier expects to operate another ten humanitarian flights in the next two weeks.
The airline operates these humanitarian relief flights using both its B-737 and B-767 equipment that has been configured especially to maximize the amount of cargo that can be delivered on these flights. The aircraft configuration allows for about nearly 70 cubic meters of cargo on the Boeing 737 aircraft and approximately 160 cubic meters on Boeing 767 aircraft.
“By carrying humanitarian cargo Ukraine International helps governments face against the COVID-19 pandemic and ensures essential business support, – noted Sergey Fomenko, UIA Vice President Commerce. – Doctors in Ukraine and many other countries await humanitarian relief shipments carried by our airline. It is our contribution to global struggle against the pandemic. We will proceed with such operations as much as it suffices.”
The carrier does its utmost to serve Ukraine, and on a recent flight carrying medical cargo from China to Israel on April 18th, UIA also delivered the Holy Flame for the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The airline is appreciative of the respect and gratitude offered by many of our partners, and especially by the delegation of the Municipality of Bologna, headed by the Mayor of Bologna, who himself, welcomed UIA aircraft with humanitarian cargo from Shanghai, China.
