Commencing 00:00 November 25, 2014, all Ukraine International Airlines` flights – domestic, international, and charter alike – will be operated to/from Terminal D Kyiv Boryspil International Airport.
Located on the first floor at Terminal D, the new UIA domestic area is equipped with 15 check-in counters, 6 aviation security control desks and 6 gates. By year-end the UIA ticket office will have been opened by the UIA check-in counters. The domestics baggage handling system has been successfully integrated into automatic multitier BHS operating in the Terminal D internationals area.
The area`s overall capacity amounts to 1800 passengers per hour, departures and arrivals alike.
Operating both international and domestic flights to/from a single terminal, UIA will be able to optimize flight schedules and minimize connecting time, as well as to increase UIA passengers` handling standards and make baggage processing more efficient.
The new transfer scheme will boost transfer passenger traffic via Kyiv. Transit passengers whose route consists of international and domestic flights will be provided with an opportunity to catch their connections within a single terminal and, thus, to make their trips with UIA even more enjoyable.
“Consolidation of domestic, international and charter flights at Terminal D Kyiv Boryspil International airport is another stage of the airport`s transfer potential development. Currently UIA transfer traffic amounts to 40% of the carrier`s overall passenger traffic, – noted Evgeniya Satska, UIA Corporate Press Secretary. – Symbolically, UIA transfers domestic flights to Terminal D on the day of its 22nd anniversary. We are glad to consolidate all our operations “under a single roof” as it will allow us to provide our passengers with maximum comfort and convenience”.
