Ukraine International Airlines informs about the delay of 22 flights, which has occurred in the evening of 29 January at Boryspil Airport. The delays were caused by the failure in refueling aircraft with aviation fuel.
In the official report of the company – the manufacturer of aviation fuel – the reason for suspending of refueling is its conflict with the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine. It is related to the mechanism of bills repayment for using aviation fuel, introduced by the new provisions of the Tax Code, which entered into force on 1 January 2019. The fueling process was suspended despite the fact that the airline fulfills all its obligations according to the Agreement for fuel supply at Boryspil Airport.
In view of this situation, UIA was forced to provide the aircraft fuel manufacturer with a letter on the compensation of possible penalties from the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine related to the refueling carried out in the evening of 29 January. The airline has taken this step in order to prevent possible serious consequences for the industry and inconvenience to the passengers. For UIA the passengers’ interests have always been and remain the priority. In this case it affected more than 3 thousands of passengers’ interests.
In general, in the evening of 29 January, 22 international and domestic flights have been delayed. The delay time was from 1 to 2 hours and 10 minutes.
UIA urges the Government of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Finance and other competent authorities to solve this situation immediately and take measures to prevent it in the future.
