Ukraine International Airlines were recognized an authorized Third Country Operator according to the European Aviation Safety Agency regulations.
May 2014, Regulation (EU) 452/2014, the TCO Regulation entered into force. Commercial air carriers must comply with the safety requirements of each country they fly to. The European Commission has adopted a unified authorization process requiring commercial air transport operators from outside the EU, also known as third-country operators (TCOs), to obtain a single EU-wide safety authorization.
The TCO Certificate allows UIA to operated flights to, from and within the 28 European Union states and the four European Free Trade Association states – Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
“To receive the TCO Certificate, UIA had to submit an application and provide information on operations specifications, aviation safety management, fleet data, other safety information, including accident history, etc. by November 25, 2014, – noted Georgii Zotov, UIA Vice President Quality and Safety Control. – We are proud of being authorized the EU TCO carrier meaning that UIA operations and safety management systems fully comply with both IATA and EASA requirements and regulations”.
